Mrs. Ruder, a California native, earned her first degrees in nursing, working over 40 years as a neonatal ICU nurse at Stanford and Packard Children’s Hospital. While loving her first calling, she simultaneously studied and participated in music, playing piano, clarinet, organ, handbells and singing. She now has a master’s degree in music, and is the organist for Valley Church, Cupertino.
An accomplished handbell ringer and solo ringer, she has taught and directed for over 30 years, including presenting workshops in the U. S., Australia and Korea. She and her husband, a retired school music educator, direct the five classes of the Valley Handbell Academy at Valley Church, Cupertino. They have seven grandchildren who share her remaining free time.
