About Canterbury Christian School

Founded in 1974, Canterbury Christian School is a classical Christian grammar school rooted in the life and ministry of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church. For over five decades, Canterbury has served families seeking an education that forms the mind, shapes the character, and orders the loves of children toward what is true, good, and beautiful.

Our Mission

Canterbury exists to assist parents in the Christian formation of their children by providing a disciplined, joyful, and academically serious education grounded in historic Christianity and the classical tradition. We believe education is not merely the transfer of information, but the cultivation of wisdom, virtue, and reverence for God.

A Classical, Rigorous Education

Our curriculum is intentionally language-rich, content-driven, and demanding. Students receive systematic instruction in phonics, grammar, writing, mathematics, history, Latin, and great literature. This approach develops strong readers, clear thinkers, and confident communicators—students who are prepared not only for future academic success, but for lives of faithfulness and responsibility.

Graduates of Canterbury are well prepared for secondary education and beyond, having been trained to work diligently, think carefully, and submit joyfully to appropriate authority.

Canterbury is also a member of the Anglican School Association, reflecting our commitment to classical Christian education within the Anglican tradition.

Campus & Governance

Our campus is located in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood in Los Altos, California, conveniently situated near Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, and Cupertino. The setting provides a peaceful and focused environment well suited to learning.

Canterbury Christian School is a California nonprofit corporation and a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization. The school is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by an Advisory Board composed of leaders in Christian education, business, and technology.
