About Canterbury
Founded in 1974, Canterbury Christian School is a classical Christian grammar school dedicated to the careful formation of the mind and character of children.
Canterbury exists to assist parents in raising children who love truth, practice virtue, and pursue excellence.
Our approach is intentionally traditional, academically serious, and rooted in historic Christianity—providing students with a strong foundation for lifelong learning and faithful service.

Why Families Choose Canterbury
Canterbury is intentionally demanding.
We maintain high expectations for students and parents. Our approach requires commitment, consistency, and trust in authority.
We work best with families who value order, discipline, and formation over convenience, entertainment, or ease.

1. Order & Discipline
Canterbury is an ordered school.
Classrooms are calm, structured, and teacher-led. Clear expectations govern behavior, work, and speech. We believe children thrive when authority is exercised consistently and lovingly.
2. Academic Seriousness
We teach real content, mastered thoroughly. Reading is phonics-based and systematic. Writing is precise. Mathematics is cumulative. Latin begins early. We value depth, memory, and accuracy over novelty or trends.
3. Character and Manners
Education is never neutral, and at Canterbury it is explicitly Christian. We form Christian character alongside intellect, cultivating obedience, reverence, and virtue. Students are taught to honor their parents, respect authority, and pursue what is true, good, and beautiful.
4. Biblical Foundation
All instruction is grounded in Scripture and shaped by historic Christian teaching. Students are taught to understand the world as God’s creation, to recognize truth as objective, and to order their lives according to biblical wisdom rather than cultural trends.
