Note from the Headmaster
Your child’s education is a launching pad for the future. The hours spent at school shape what your child knows, becomes, and achieves.
Canterbury’s mission is to help you give your child the best start by providing an excellent education in a caring, Christian environment. Our goal is not academic success alone; it’s also personal development, spiritual growth, and an educational experience that creates a love for learning.
You’ll find we offer a safe environment; and faculty who provide sound academic instruction while serving as Christian role models to their students. Thank you for choosing us as you explore your educational choices.
The Rev. Steve Macias
Headmaster (2018-Present)

We warmly invite parents to join their children for daily chapel from 8:30 to 9:05 each morning. Led by Rev. Macias, our chapel service includes pledges, a patriotic song, hymns, a Bible lesson, a weekly manner, and our chapel prayers.
Lower grades (1st and 2nd) attend chapel on Tuesday and Thursday, upper grades have their service on Monday and Wednesday, and the entire school comes together for All School Chapel on Friday. This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in the spiritual life of our school and to share in these meaningful moments with your children. We look forward to seeing you there!
Join us for the Headmaster’s Quarterly Coffee, held in the parish hall. This event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to engage directly with the Headmaster in an informal and welcoming setting. These gatherings provide a platform for open dialogue, where you can discuss your children’s experiences, share feedback, and ask questions about school policies, curriculum, and future plans.
Enjoy a cup of coffee while getting to know other parents and building a stronger school community. Your participation is invaluable in fostering a collaborative environment that supports the growth and success of our students. We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts and ideas.
Dates align with Canterbury Handbell and Choir performances.
For any inquiries or to schedule a meeting, you can reach the Headmaster by phone or email. Please call the school’s main office at (650) 949-0909 or send an email to office@canterburycs.org. The Headmaster looks forward to hearing from you and addressing any questions or concerns you may have.
About Rev. Macias
Since 2018, Rev. Macias has been serving as Canterbury’s third Headmaster, a significant role given that the school has only had three headmasters since its founding in 1974. He also serves as the Rector of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and is a presbyter (pastor/priest) in the Reformed Episcopal Church. A tradition that traces its roots to the Church of England and the Protestant Reformation.
His theological background includes graduate studies at Trinity Episcopal School and Cranmer Theological House. Before entering the ministry, he worked in the California State Legislature, charter schools, and was involved with nonprofits in both California and Washington, D.C.
Rev. Macias and his wife, Sarah reside in Los Altos, California, with their four children.
