Canterbury’s 4th, 5th, and 6th graders are stepping into the spotlight with the San Francisco Opera Guild’s ‘Opera Together’ program! In Fall 2024, they’re diving into the enchanting world of ‘La Cenerentola’ (Cinderella), igniting their passion for music, drama, and teamwork.
We are working directly with the San Francisco Opera Guild, we will be producing an in-school performance of Rossini’s La Cenerentola (Cinderella) fall 2024. This 45-minute opera reduction consisting of musical excerpts and spoken dialogue features four professional opera singers, a collaborative pianist, and students from Canterbury in speaking and singing roles.
Students memorize lines, music, and staging in advance, are coached by artists in dress rehearsal adding props, costumes, and scenery, and perform for school and community. A Canterbury teachers oversees preparing students for their roles.
Parents and friends are invited for a Winter performance in the Canterbury Chapel.
